Our Cat... Slick

This is Slick, our cat. She is about 11 years old and getting pretty lazy. She's pretty partial to me and, in fact, doesn't like anyone else to touch her very much. She's a pretty good kitty and sleeps with our two little dogs and me every night.

Slick got her name when she tipped over a pan of dirty motor oil onto herself and came out of the garage across our new carpet... she was a mess! A real oil-slick, she was! We called a few places to find out how to clean her up and were finally told to use Dawn dish soap on her. That's what they use to clean birds and wildlife after oil slicks. It worked pretty good... she was black with oil. She was not very happy about the bath!

Anyway, Slick survived and has been a very happy cat ever since. She certainly isn't shy about making herself at home on the bed! Good ol' Slick!

Sammy & Roxy... Possum Hunters!

Sammy and Roxy were going ballistic out on the deck a bit ago. I went out to investigate and they'd "treed" a possum. Well... sort of. The possum was in the cherry tree by the deck, and the dogs were eye-level with it, just a couple feet away. The possum (possums are pretty stupid) decided he was trapped and just sat there... playing possum. I made a few noises and shook the branch, but Mr. O'possum didn't have any plans for moving anywhere.

I finally got Sammy and Roxy back in the house and grabbed a broom tho shoo the intruder away. A couple pokes had no effect, so I gave him a good baseball-swing with the broom. That got him out of the tree. I watched him meander his way to the neighbors yard. I'm sure he'll be back. Roxy and Sammy will be expecting him.
