KEXP Radio...
I ran across this radio station the other day. I like it.
The station began broadcasting in 1972 on 90.5 FM, programming an album-rock format. The station's 10-watt transmitter was located on top of McMahon Hall on the UW campus. It had the call letters KCMU .
In 2000, KCMU (400W) became the first radio station in the world to offer uncompressed CD-quality audio on the Internet, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
In 2001, KCMU became KEXP and boosted their output to 720-Watts and partnered with the Experience Music Project to enhance and provide a richer musical experience for listeners.
Today, the tiny radio station is known worldwide and proudly states that their DJs still pick their music. There are all styles and genres of music and the station is member supported.
